Salted Eggs.

I love salted eggs. Usually I get them in the Supermarket either duck or chicken eggs. Yesterday as I was surfing the net, I check on how to make salted eggs. There are many items on the making either by soaking in brine or coated with salt.
I then immediately got some chicken eggs as I don't have duck eggs and begin with my experiment with salt coated type. The eggs will be ready in 2o days time and I will share with you the result.
Herewith pictures showing the making of the salted eggs. Enjoy.........

The Ingredients you required

First you dip the egg into Chinese cooking wine

Next roll the egg into salt

Then I place the eggs into a plastic jar and keep for 20 days, will boil one and test it for my liking. If I like the eggs to be more salty maybe keep them longer. DIY and you won't regret it.
Cheers.

Fish Head

I, for one love to eat Fish Head. There are many outlet selling Fish Head in KL and PJ. Fish Head cooking have been expanded to many style and taste with Curry Mamak Style, Malay Gulai, Indian Spicy Curry and the Chinese of Fresh Steam, "Cheong Ching" and many others. The most popular type of fish head are from the variety of the Chinese Carp "tai tau". The more expensive is the "loong tan" ie the head of the big, old Garupa "sak pan" fish. The cooking of the Chinese carp fish head are easy but the "loong tan" is of skill coz the most delicious part is the thick fish skin. I was told that the "loong tan" have to be steam for a longer time to bring out the "skin Oil" then it will be very tasty. I have actually tasted it and its really good.
The famous shop in KL is at Jalan Chan Sow Lin, but I prefer the Kampong Sungei Buloh one.
Herewith pictures showing the Steam and the "cheong ching" type from Kampong Sungei Buloh.

Enjoy...................

The Petai Story

Petai is just like Durian. If you were to like them, say the Durian, you will cut down on other fruits or food just to savour the Durians during session. If Petai is in session, you will surely get your hands on them. I have try the best Petai cook with prawns and sambal balacan. You can also cook them with ikan belis and chilli padi. Do you believe that the Chinese consumed more Petai that others, check with yourself the last time you eat Petai. How much have you consumed? For me I always buy them in the hundred stocks coz I get them cheap in Pertang compare to KL. This morning I was at the wet market and the Petai is sold at RM 1.00 per stock. OMG Petai is going to be the food for the rich very soon.

Further to my earlier blog on the Mangoestin, it have grown to 70% to ripe ( about 1 month more ). This will be a good session and a long one as you can buy them now. Prices will be cheap soon. Pictures showing the Mangoestin for your viewing.
While I was at my orchard last weekend, I chance upon a beautiful wild Ginger Plant with flower.

See you next blog. Bye & cheers

My Office's Sub contractors' night.

Last Wednesday ( 27th. May 2009 ), my office organised a sub-contractors' night at the Pearl International Hotel. We took over the whole Pub with the ordering of food for 100 pax. The buffet dinner starts at 7 pm and immediately beers are flowed freely. well the last social function held by my office was our annual dinner held just before the Chinese New Year. I was told that the sub contractors' night was for the Management and the Senior staff to get to know the sub-contractors and suppliers better and meet over food and drinks. Hmm, wonder its a good idea except spending this kind of money during this period of time. Never mind lah, maybe my office have made the money from the support from the sub-contractors and suppliers.
It was an enjoyable evening with Karaoke, Sub-contractors award given to those who have contributed positively to our organisation and the saying goes - let your hair down. It went through the night until about 12 pm and the party has consumed 100 jars of beer and 11 bottles of whisky not inclusive soft drinks.
Yours truly have quite a numbers of beers that night coz the days have been very hot!!!!!. especially working under the hot sun at site.
Herewith downloading 2 nos of pictures of yours truly for your viewing.

Tasty Food.

Since I am not working today (on leave) and have spare time, love to blog again. There is a restaurant at Kuchai Lama with the name of Goon Wah, if you are coming from KFC towards Old Klang Road, you will find a Shell Petrol Station on your left (about 300 metres from KFC), turn in and there is only 1 long row of shoplot and the restaurant is about 8 shops from the end. The food there is tasty and varieties. They operate during the day and Monday to Friday only. Best to call them if you want to go coz they are also doing catering. Herewith pictures of my favourite food for your enjoyment.
